Tuam AC 8Km – 20/1/2019

Weather was nice and dry with 7deg when we rolled into the mercy school in Tuam around 1:30pm.We met up with all the loughrea club mates and had a chat about planned pacing and projected times, injuries and niggles aside, headed out the road for a warm up of 2km.Then back to hall for a final gear check and stretch to loosen out any tight muscles.

Up to the start line in glorious sunshine, ideal running conditions really, further loosening of legs etc.

The course was very similar to Streets of Galway with no major inclines, first couple of kms nice and flat with a couple of twists leaving the town and we were at 4km before long. At 7km we were up over the rail bridge by the golf course and downhill and flat for home where we emptied the tank down to the finish.

We couldn’t rest on our laurels as once we changed our tops and got our breaths back we went for a 2.5km cool down run, super important! Then it was time for tea and cakes, and to be fair Tuam AC had plenty for everyone.

Sean Hehir (24:59) and Regina Casey (29:09) took the awards with super running.

It was a great representation from Loughea AC with 7 members taking part, congratulations to everyone who finished in great conditions and super hosting by club.

It was a great day out and definitely one for the calendar for next season.

Well Done Tuam AC we will be back!
