County Galway Track & Field u12 – u19 – Dangan 19/5/13

Loughrea Athletic Club had a large number of juvenile members in action on Sunday last in the u12 to u19 Galway Track and Field Championships in Dangan.

The day go off to a great start with the u12 girls 4 x 100m relay winning gold (Emer Donnellan, Chloe Casey, Emma Stewart and Aoibhin Farrell);  u13 girls won bronze (Carol Allison, Chloe Casey, Pearl Finnerty and Emer Donnellan);  u14 girls won bronze (Pearl Finnerty, Lauren Stewart, Emma Reynolds and Arlene Earls);  u14 boys won gold (Shane Donnellan, Eoin Conaghan, Stephen Doran and Evan Cox)  and the u15 boys won bronze (Darragh Headd, Callum Reddington, Eoin Conaghan and Stephen Doran).

In the sprints u14 80m, Eoin Conaghan (bronze); u14 200m, Stephen Doran (silver); u14 200m, Emma Reynolds (gold);  u16 100m,  David Brown (silver); u18/19 100m, Janic Schulte (bronze); u18/19 100m, Evette Kirwan (bronze) and  u18/19 200m, Caomhan Conaghan (gold).

In the long distance events, Chloe Casey ran a great race to win the u12, 600m while Arlene Earls and Shane Donnellan both won silver in the u14, 1500m events.   David Brown led from the start to win the 800m u16/17 with a great performance.

In the hurdles u16/17 100m and 250m, Maeve Farrell (gold);  u16/17 250m, Clara Doran (silver) and  u18/19 110m, Janic Schulte (gold).

Meanwhile the long jumps saw more medals for the club, u13, Pearl Finnerty (silver)(3.88m);  u13,  Evan Cox (gold)(4.18m);  u13, Darragh Quinn (bronze)(4.01m); u14,  Eoin Conaghan  (gold)(4.42m); u14, Stephen Doran (bronze)(4.31m); u15, Darragh Headd (gold)(4.27m); u15, Callum Reddington (silver)(3.69m); u16/17,  Meave Farrell (gold)(4.21m);  u18/19, Caomhan Conaghan (gold)(6.06m) and Janic Schulte (silver)(5.43m). 

Caomhan Conaghan also won gold in the Triple Jump u18/19 (12.41m) and the High Jump (1.95m) with Janic taking silver in the High Jump (1.70m).

The Javelin medal winners were u14, Emma Reynolds (gold)(19.10m);   u14,  Shane Donnellan (gold)(14.60m);  u14, Stephen Doran (bronze)(10.64m);  u15,  Darragh Headd (gold)(10.66m);  u15, Callum Reddington (bronze)(8.20m) and u16/17, Clara Doran (gold)(10.55m).

Gavin Headd finished off the day taking gold in the u12 Shot Putt (6.17m).
