Annual Awards Day

A plaque was presented to Sheena Cannon on behalf of her team Arlene Earls, Siobhan McGrath and Erica Leslie from New Inn National School who were winners of the Connacht Schools Cross Country  competition.  All girls are members of Loughrea AC.

Emma Reynolds won the overall Athlete of the year for 2012.  A trophy and perpetual cup was presented to Emma.  Emma won gold at the Indoor 60m and 600m County and Connacht u13. She won gold in the 80m Outdoor County and Connacht and silver in the 600m County u13.  Emma was also part of the Galway Community Games Cross Country team  that won an All Ireland silver medal.  She was also a member of the u13 and u14 relay teams that represented Loughrea AC at the All Irelands in Tullamore in July.

Pearl Finnerty was the u12  award winner. Pearl won a silver medal at the County Indoor 60m sprint and Long Jump with a jump of 3m 20.  Pearl was also a member of the u12 relay team that went on to compete at the All Irelands in Tullamore in July. 

Lauren Stewart was the u13 award winner.  Lauren won a bronze medal in the Long Jump at the County Outdoor competitions in Dangan with a jump of 3m 91.  Lauren was also part of the Galway Community Games Cross Country team that won an All Ireland silver medal.  She was a member of the u13 and u14 relay teams that went on to compete at the All Irelands in Tullamore in July.

Gavin Headd was the u10 award winner. Gavin is the youngest recipient and competed at the Indoor and Outdoor County competitions.  Gavin received the award for his hard work and  training throughout the year and the award is well deserved.

A special presentation of a Loughrea AC hoodie was made to Padraig Wade.  Padraig was thanked for all his hard work and help with coaching the children throughout the year.  Padraig is the youngest coach registered with The Athletics Association of Ireland.  We wish him every success in his Leaving Cert which he will be sitting in June 2013.
